Carrier-specific guidelines

Arbella

General notes

  • Real-Time Rating available: Monday through Saturday, 6:00 a.m. – 3:00 a.m., and Sunday, 6:00 a.m. – 11:59 p.m. EST
  • New business: The Quote Effective Date should be no more than 30 days in the past and no more than 60 days in the future.
  • Renewals: The Quote Effective Date can go back a year for Active Policies. Renewal policies cannot have “Cancelled” status.
  • RFID 752-1002 quotes: The following discounts do not apply to RFID 752-1002 except when a qualifying vehicle in RFID 1-751 is on the same policy: Account Credit, Loyalty, Multi-Vehicle and Paid in Full. The following discounts do not apply to any RFID 752-1002: Hybrid, Student Away at School, Military Away, Good Student and Multi-Car Family.

Driver tab

  • When you integrate WinRater with your agency management system, WinRater sometimes will list Accidents and Violations as “Unknown.” You must enter type of violation: Major or Minor.
  • SinglePoint/Submit Now! When you click SUBMIT in WinRater, the SUBMIT NOW Screen appears asking for the Applicant’s Mailing Address and the Vehicle’s Odometer and Purchase Date. These fields are required for issuance. You can enter them in the Submit Now screen, or you can select the Review App button and enter these fields in Arbella.com.

Underwriting tab

  • Lapsed days: Required when Prior or Renewing Carrier is anything other than No Prior Coverage. Cannot be Unknown.
  • Prior BI Limits: Required when Prior or Renewing Carrier is anything other than No Prior Coverage.
Commerce

General notes

  • Real-Time Rating available: Monday through Saturday, 6:00 a.m. – 3:00 a.m., and Sunday, 6:00 a.m. – 11:59 p.m. EST
  • Commerce calculates rates based on number of drivers as well as number of vehicles. If you remove a vehicle or add a driver to a policy, the risk will fall under a different Commerce Tier. Please be sure to enter correct number of drivers as well as correct number of vehicles.

Carrier Options tab:

  • Has Property Policy (on Primary): Commerce gives a discount even if the insured owns a home that is not insured by Commerce. Check this off when the insured has a property policy with Commerce or another carrier.
Concord Group/Green Mountain

General notes

  • Real-Time Rating available: Monday through Saturday, 6:00 a.m. – 3:00 a.m., and Sunday, 6:00 a.m. – 11:59 p.m. EST
  • Advance Quote Discount: Triggered by the entered Quote Effective Date

Vehicle tab

  • Roadside Assistance: There is no selectable option for this in WinRater. Green Mountain will automatically apply Roadside Assistance to all quotes. Once you submit the quote for issuance, you can remove Roadside Assistance in the Green Mountain site.
Farm Family

Driver tab

  • Farm Family uses Priv Pass First Lic (Date First Licensed) to calculate Driving Experience Discount.

Carrier Options tab

  • Be aware that the MA Farm Bureau Federation Group Discount has been extended to MA residents with memberships in NH, NJ, NY, or RI.
Hanover

General notes

  • Note: At this time, only New Business quotes can be rated.
  • Part 5 Limits: If Part 5 limits are 20/40, the part 5 premium will display as $0 and Hanover will add the actual premium to the Part 1 Premium.
  • SDIP Surcharges or Credits do not display as a separate amount on the quote

Vehicle tab

  • Date first Licensed and Annual Mileage: Both of these MUST be accurate.

Driver tab

  • Accidents and Violations Hanover focuses on last 3 years of all Accidents and Violations including Not at Fault accidents and Comp Losses over $1,000.
  • For Violations: Enter Surcharge Date
  • For Accidents Enter Incident Date and dollar amount.
  • Note: If you’re using Boston Software’s RMV-prefill workflow, most of this information will be pre-filled.

Client Info screen

  • Named insured: The Primary (and, if applicable, Secondary) First Name, Last Name and Date of Birth must match those in the Driver Tab.
Harleysville

General notes

  • Real-Time Rating available: Monday through Saturday, 6:00 a.m. – 3:00 a.m., and Sunday, 6:00 a.m. – 11:59 p.m. EST
  • Note: At this time, only Drivers with valid RMV responses using active MA licenses can be rated accurately.

Driver tab

  • Note: If you check the green “Check the box to rate with SDIP and Private Passenger First Licensed Date entered on the screen,” Harleysville will rate the driver as SDIP 99.
MetLife

General notes

  • Real-Time Rating available: Monday through Saturday, 6:00 a.m. – 3:00 a.m., and Sunday, 6:00 a.m. – 11:59 p.m. EST
  • Rated Operator: MetLife does not display the rated operator or SDIP on the Plan Summary or Quote Worksheet.
  • Discounts: Welcome discount and Express IT/Payroll deduction discount – Quotes will automatically be defaulted to provide these discounts.

Vehicle tab

  • Vehicle Type: MetLife is only able to quote the following vehicle types: Private Passenger, Pickups w/o symbols.
  • Vehicles: The number of vehicles must be less than or equal to 6.
  • Salvage Title: MetLife – Has Salvage Title option is located in the Additional Coverages section of the WinRater screen, underneath the vehicle limits.

Driver tab

  • State: Residence state must be Massachusetts, otherwise MetLife will reject the quote.
  • Drivers: The number of drivers must be less than or equal to 7.
  • Registry Lookup: If MetLife discovers more than 8 accidents or violations during its RMV call, it will reject the quote.

Client Info screen

  • Named Insured: On the Client tab, the Primary (and, if applicable, Secondary) First Name, Last Name and Date of Birth must match those in the Driver Tab.

Quote Info screen

  • New Business: MetLife is not able to quote a backdated policy. If you enter a prior date, MetLife will change it to calendar effective date. Also, MetLife is able to quote 90 days forward from the current calendar date.
NGM

General notes

  • Real-Time Rating available: Monday through Saturday, 6:00 a.m. – 3:00 a.m., and Sunday, 6:00 a.m. – 11:59 p.m. EST
Norfolk & Dedham

General notes

  • Anti-Theft Discount: Norfolk & Dedham will return a number from 0 to 11 (0 signifying no Anti-Theft discount). Each number represents a certain percentage discount, as shown in the chart below:

  • Extra vehicle discount: If the policy has more Private Passenger vehicles than drivers, then go to the vehicle panel (underneath the coverages on the Rating Detail Screen) and, in the Additional Coverages section, select the discount.
Plymouth Rock

General notes

  • Real-Time Rating available: Monday through Saturday, 6:00 a.m. – 3:00 a.m., and Sunday, 6:00 a.m. – 11:59 p.m. EST
  • Note: At this time only New Business quotes can be rated.

Required options

  • Plymouth Rock requires a response to the following WinRater Options in order to obtain a Real-Time Auto rate. (The REVIEW button in WinRater’s premium panel next to Plymouth Rock helps direct you to these fields.

Carrier Options tab

  • Agency Codes/Group Codes: This is your 7-digit Producer Code and is required for rating. You can set a WinRater default to always apply this code for you underOptions > Set up Auto Automatically Added Carrier Options

Underwriting tab

  • Lapsed days: Required when Prior or Renewing Carrier is anything other than No Prior Coverage. Cannot be Unknown.
  • Prior BI Limits: Required when Prior or Renewing Carrier is anything other than No Prior Coverage.

Client Info screen

  • Named insured: The Client Info screen’s Primary and, if applicable, Secondary, First Name, Last Name, and Date of Birth fields must contain the same data that was entered in Driver 1’s tab for Primary info and Driver 2’s tab for Secondary info.
Preferred

General notes

  • Real-Time Rating available: Monday through Saturday, 6:00 a.m. – 3:00 a.m., and Sunday, 6:00 a.m. – 11:59 p.m. EST

Carrier Options tab

  • Agency Code: This code must be manually entered in the Policy Options Tab in order to get a rate.
Progressive

General notes

  • Real-Time Rating available: 24/7, 365 days
  • Rated Operator: Progressive does not display the rated operator or the territory code on the Plan Summary or Quote Worksheet.
  • Six-month Premiums: Unlike other carriers in WinRater, Progressive will list a six-month premium for each vehicle. However, the total premium displayed in the premium panel will still be an annual premium.

Vehicle tab

  • Snapshot: Snapshot is available for each vehicle under Add/Remove Coverages.
  • Glass deductible: MA Glass $100 Deductible is a requirement and automatically defaults to On.
  • Vehicle Mileage Verified Using UMS: Check this off if you have verified that the annual mileage entered for a vehicle is accurate. Find it under Add/Remove Coverages for each vehicle. It will affect the rate.

Driver tab

  • Relationship to Insured: Relationship to Insured must be answered for all drivers.
  • Driver 1: Driver 1 must be set to Insured.
  • Moving Violations Years 4 & 5: If true, select Yes as it will affect the rate.
  • State Filing: If true, select Yes as it will affect the rate.
  • Accidents/Violations: For accurate Progressive rating, you must enter all drivers Accidents/Violations into WinRater. You also can pull them in using the WinRater RMV Pre-Fill.
  • Note: When you integrate WinRater with your agency management system, WinRater sometimes will list Accidents and Violations as “Unknown.” You should edit the violations as either Major or Minor. You should also edit the description of each violation.
  • Driver exclusions must be on all vehicles: Progressive does not allow you to exclude a driver on only some of the vehicles on a quote.

Carrier Options tab

The following carrier options are required for Progressive Real-Time Rating:

  • Continuous Insurance Requirement must be answered.
  • Length of Time at Current Address must be answered.
  • Num Non-Pay Cancels past 24 Months must be answered.
  • Prior Policy Expiration Date must be answered.
  • Residence Insurance Discount must be answered.
  • MA Privacy Disclosure Acknowledged must be checked.

Client Info screen

  • Prior Address Conditionally Required: If length of time at the current address is less than two months, you must enter a Previous Address on the Client Info screen. (Length of time at the current address is one of the required Carrier Options.)
Quincy Mutual

General notes

  • Real-Time Rating available: Monday through Saturday, 6:00 a.m. – 3:00 a.m., and Sunday, 6:00 a.m. – 11:59 p.m. EST

Underwriting tab

  • On renewal policies: In order to be eligible for the Preferred Operator Discount, “Prior or Renewing Carrier” must be set to Quincy and “Years with Carrier” must be set to 1 or greater in the Underwriting section. In addition, the risk must be:
  • Rated in classes 12-15.
  • Have Bodily Injury limits, Part 5, equal to or above $50,000 per person.
  • The rated operator must have a merit rating code of 99 (Excellent Driver Discount Plus), 98 (Excellent Driver Discount), or 00 (Neutral).
Safeco

General notes

  • Real-Time Rating available: Monday through Saturday, 6:00 a.m. – 3:00 a.m., and Sunday, 6:00 a.m. – 11:59 p.m. EST
  • New business only: At this time only New Business quotes can be rated for Safeco.
  • Renewals: Safeco is not quoting Auto renewals in WinRater at this time.
  • Motorcycles: you must rate motorcycles separately from cars.
  • Driver-Vehicle Assignment: Safeco determines an average rating factor for all rated drivers and then automatically applies that factor to all vehicles. You don’t need to assign drivers to specific vehicles.
  • The rated drivers are equal to all the drivers on the policy. You must list all operators of the insured vehicles on the Coverage Selections Page of the Policy.
  • An operator is a person who has an operator’s license, not including a person who has only a learner’s permit.

Vehicle tab

  • Right Track is a vehicle-specific Additional Coverage discount. To add it, clickAdd/Remove Coverages.

Driver tab

  • Excluded Operators: Safeco does not allow you to exclude an operator on only some of the vehicles on a quote. Exclusion must be on all vehicles.

Carrier Options tab

  • Agent code: You need to enter your Safeco Agent Code, a six-digit code with no dash, under Carrier Options.
  • Residence Insurance Type: Safeco requires you to enter Residence Insurance type under Carrier Options.
  • Select Coverage Level: Safeco has four Coverage Levels – Essential, Enhanced, Superior and Ultra – available under the Carrier Options tab. If you don’t select one, Safeco defaults to the Essential level.

Underwriting tab

  • Lapsed days: Required when Prior or Renewing Carrier is anything other than No Prior Coverage. Cannot be Unknown.
  • Prior BI Limits: Required when Prior or Renewing Carrier is anything other than No Prior Coverage.
Safety

General notes

  • Real-Time Rating available: Monday through Saturday, 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
  • Because there is no registry validation for driver or vehicle information, it is very important that you enter all information correctly in WinRater.
  • Renewal Credit is based on consecutive years with Safety up to 11+ years.

Vehicle tab

  • Usage Commute, Business and Farm will rate the vehicle as Business Class 30.

Carrier Options tab

  • Agency Codes/Group Codes: Safety uses these quotes to apply the appropriate group discounts to your quote. Safety automatically enters the codes upon WinRater startup and updates them every seven days. Select your codes via a dropdown menu in the Policy Options Tab. You must select codes in order to obtain a real-time rate.
  • Electronic Book Transfer is for a business that has been with the Agent for three or more years and that is moving its policy to Safety as part of an approved Marketing Book Roll.
  • Note: Cannot have both E-Customer Discount and Electronic Book Transfer on a quote.

Underwriting tab

  • New Business/Agency Loyalty Credit may be applied depending on the entered years with agency and carrier. Only applicable for 1st or 2nd year with Safety.
National General

General notes

  • Real-Time Rating available: Monday through Saturday, 6:00 a.m. – 3:00 a.m., and Sunday, 6:00 a.m. – 11:59 p.m. EST

Vehicle tab

  • Non-Chargeable Incidents: If a Driver has Non-Chargeable Incidents, you need to enter them in the Accident/Violations tab

Driver tab

  • Companion Policy Discount options are National General, Fair Plan, Narragansett and Barnstable.

Underwriting tab

  • Coverage lapse: If there is a lapse in coverage, National General needs the exact number of days (with 0 meaning “No Lapse”).
Travelers

General notes

  • Real-Time Rating available: Monday through Saturday, 6:00 a.m. – 3:00 a.m., and Sunday, 6:00 a.m. – 11:59 p.m. EST

Vehicle tab

  • Garaging Address: Required for all vehicles.
  • Annual Mileage: Enter valid number; do not use 99999 or rate will be over-stated.
  • Hybrid Discount: When you enter the full VIN, Real-Time Rating will apply the hybrid discount.
  • Vehicle Owner: Required for all vehicles and must be a named insured or spouse.

Driver tab

  • Relationship to Insured: Required field.
  • Agent code: In Driver Options, Agent Code is required.

Carrier Options tab

  • Continuous Insurance: Required field, enter the total continuous time the insured has had auto insurance.
  • Primary Residence Type: Required field. Travelers provides a discount even if the Home, Condo or Tenant policy is with another carrier.
  • Prior Policy Expiration Date: Required to provide Early Quote Discount. Be sure to put the accurate date that the insured’s current policy will expire.

Underwriting tab

  • Prior BI Limits: Required field.
  • Years with Carrier: Required field.
Vermont Mutual

General notes

  • Real-Time Rating available: Monday through Saturday, 6:00 a.m. – 3:00 a.m., and Sunday, 6:00 a.m. – 11:59 p.m. EST

  • Renewal Credit is applied for consecutive years with Vermont Mutual up to a maximum for 11+ years.
