Resources to help ease the transition to SinglePoint

SinglePoint Rating has begun rolling out to agencies in small batches. (WinRater will be available until it is officially retired in early 2018.) To help you get acquainted and up and running with SinglePoint Rating, we’ve pulled together a variety of resources, from videos to FAQs, which you’ll find below.

Frequently asked questions

When will I get the new SinglePoint?

We began delivering it in late December to small groups of agents, approx. 25-75 at a time. This staggered rollout allows us to make sure agents get the service and technical support they may need when first learning the new comparative rating system.

How will I get SinglePoint? Do I have to download anything?

You don’t need to download any software. SinglePoint is a Web-based platform, so you will just navigate to our website and log in by entering your existing user ID and password.

Will SinglePoint cost the same as WinRater? Will there be additional fees?

The SinglePoint License Fees are the same as WinRater. There are no additional fees of any kind.

Will SinglePoint have all the same features and functionality as WinRater?

Yes. However, some features such as agency management system integrations or ACORD forms may not be available till December or January.

Will SinglePoint support the same lines of business as WinRater did?

Yes. However, the initial release version will support Auto and Homeowners. We will add Dwelling/Fire and Umbrella shortly thereafter.

Why are you changing the rating software now?

All of us vendors, agents, and carriers have to keep up with the latest technology. And Boston Software is no different. WinRater was a great product, but there are so many benefits to being available on the web, including 24/7 access from any computer.

Will I still be able to use WinRater?

Yes, we’ll support both systems for a while. You’ll have access to WinRater and SinglePoint during this transition period. At some point in the near future we will officially retire WinRater.

What Internet browser(s) can I use to access SinglePoint?

SinglePoint will run in commonly-used browsers including Microsoft’s Internet Explorer and Edge.

Will I have to set up SinglePoint or can I just begin using it?

All users will need a SinglePoint user ID and password to log in to SinglePoint, but you most likely have your user ID / password already because you need these in WinRater today for many functions including Real-Time Rating, Real-Time Submitting, RMV retrieval, etc.

There are other things you can do to make sure your SinglePoint is optimized for your agency workflow. The SinglePoint Manager in your agency can set up various defaults for coverage and limits, quote delivery, etc.

Will we have access to our old saved quotes in WinRater? [ACTION REQUIRED]

Yes, if you choose you can move up to 18 months of saved quotes from WinRater to your new SinglePoint database. Just let us know by completing this short form and we will migrate your data for you.

How will I learn how to use SinglePoint?

There will be many opportunities to learn the software. We deliberately tried to keep the workflow similar to WinRater, so we’re confident that you will be able to pick it up pretty quickly. But we will have plenty of online videos, webinars, and live trainings to educate you. And of course you can always call or email us for support.

Auto rating in SinglePoint: basic workflow

To begin, go to https://bostonsoftware.com/webapps/ and log in to SinglePoint with your User ID and password. If you are unsure of your password, you can reset it. Please ask your SP Account Manager or call Boston Software if your manager is not available.

From the dashboard, you can start a new auto quote or open an existing quote.

Select your plans or keep all plans on your quote. You can use our RMV lookup or manually create a quote.

Enter the Operator’s Name, License # and DOB and select RMV Lookup.

On the RMV results page, select View to open the Driver or Vehicle Reports.

The Drivers and Vehicles tabs are prepopulated from the RMV lookup. Be sure to review all data and complete any required fields.


Be sure to scroll down to access additional driver options.

The tabs are located at the top of the screen. Be sure to navigate through each tab to enter all necessary rating information.


Additional coverages are found in the Coverages tab.


Rating occurs in the premium tab. Each carrier is ready to rate when there are no warnings below. Review buttons indicate missing information.

Finally, go to View Plan Summary.

You will see all Action buttons at the top of your screen. Always read any Carrier Messages on the right.

Help is available from the Plan Summary.

Homeowners rating in SinglePoint: basic workflow

From the dashboard, you can start a new home quote or open an existing quote.

Select your policy type, form type, and your plans.

Enter the risk information on the dwelling tab. Be sure to scroll down to view the entire screen.

The tabs are located at the top of the screen. Be sure to navigate through each tab to enter all necessary rating information.





Rating occurs in the Premiums tab. Each carrier is ready to rate when there are no warnings below. Review buttons indicate missing information.

Finally, go to View Plan Summary.

Credit scoring in SinglePoint Rating

Some Homeowners carriers use insurance or credit scoring to determine eligibility for plan placement. In most cases, credit scores are run through LexisNexis/ChoicePoint. The credit score retrieval process can be fully integrated within your SinglePoint Rating.

During the quoting process you only need to enter basic risk information and select the carrier(s); SinglePoint will automatically initiate the credit score retrievals for each carrier, display specific messages/eligibilities for each carrier, and provide access to the credit report.

  • Integrating your SinglePoint with the credit retrieval utility is part of our recommended quote-to-issue workflow.
  • The integrated retrieval process is fully secure and follows all Private Information protocols, including the Federal Credit Reporting Act.
  • There is no additional cost or fees to your agency.

To integrate credit report retrievals within SinglePoint:

  • Contact your carrier marketing rep(s) and request this functionality;
  • Each carrier handles this a little differently, but you must complete some paperwork; your carrier, LexisNexis, and Boston Software will set up the permissions on your behalf. This may take a couple of weeks.
  • NOTE: Agencies that have used LexisNexis retrieval in WinRater do not have to set up anything in SinglePoint. We have already migrated your credentials and LexisNexis node IDs into your SinglePoint. Just follow the instructions below to access the feature in SinglePoint.

Retrieving credit scores in Home Rating

While quoting a Home risk in SinglePoint, click the Underwriting tab to initiate the credit report retrieval process. A list of your credit lookup enabled carriers will appear. Select the desired carrier(s) by checking the appropriate boxes. Click Retrieve Reports to start the retrieval.

The FCRA disclosure will display. Click Yes to indicate that you understand and accept the terms.

When the credit report retrievals are complete, click the hyperlinks beside each carrier to view and/print the individual reports.
