DEC Express is now live for Auto; you can import data from your prospect’s Declaration pages

SinglePoint’s new DEC Express feature enables you to import a photo or scan of your prospect’s Auto or Home insurance declaration page(s) and automatically import the data into SinglePoint.  DEC Express captures policy details directly from the declaration pages and automatically populates the fields in SinglePoint.  This is all done by proven technology (Optical Character Recognition) so you can spend more time advising your clients instead of typing.

As of March 30, 2026, DEC Express is available to all licensed SinglePoint users for Automobile policies. Homeowner policies is being tested now and should be available in the next week or so.

Here’s how it works:

  • You will need a saved photo or scanned copy of a DEC Page(s).
  • The image should be clear. Blurry or overexposed images make it difficult for DEC Express to extract data accurately.
  • If you just want to test it, use your own personal Auto declaration pages
  • Or ask your prospect/insured to send an image of their Declaration pages email, text, or upload.
  • Make sure the file is saved in a location on your computer or network that SinglePoint can access.
  • Open SinglePoint as you normally do and begin New Auto Quote.
  • Set the desired “Effective Date” and the “Plans on Quote”.
  • Select “Import from Dec” button
  • Then select the “Browse” button
  • Search and select the DEC pages you want to import.
  • Click “Import”.

SinglePoint will begin scanning the pages, extracting the data, and filling in the appropriate fields. A banner will show the progress. This usually takes 30–60 seconds.

  • When the process is complete, you’ll see a confirmation message that SinglePoint is ready to quote.
  • Once the Risk is ready to quote:
    • We recommend you review all the tabs to verify that DEC Express pre-filled the correct data into the appropriate rating fields.
    • Review/complete Driver detail and Driver Options for each Driver.  IMPORTANT: we highly recommend you run an RMV Lookup to pull in Incidents and confirm the Driver information.
    • Review/complete Vehicle detail for each Vehicle including Driver Assignment and then run an RMV Lookup to pull in the Vehicle Equipment.  Equipment impacts premium so this is necessary.
    • Check the Coverage Limits and Additional Coverages (Waiver of Deductible, etc)
  • Complete the Policy History
  • Select Carrier Options IMPORTANT:  Carrier options from the DEC are not imported via DEC Express (see below).
  • Review the Client information
  • Then go to SinglePoint Premiums page and Rate All.

DEC Express uses Optical Character Recognition technology and Artificial Intelligence functionality to build the quote.  However, DECs vary by carrier, present information differently, use different abbreviations, etc. so you need to review what information has pre-filled to ensure you request an accurate quote.

  • If a VIN is not on the DEC and the Make/Model doesn’t match what’s listed in SinglePoint you will receive a warning message. You must correct the vehicle information to quote.
  • Years with Carrier and Years with Agency are not typically found on a DEC and will import as “0”. You should correct this before rating.  If Mileage isn’t found, it will be set to “0” too.  You should correct this before rating.
  • Driver assignment typically only assigns the Named Insured to each vehicle.  Be sure to correct this if inaccurate.
  • Coverage options such as Waiver of Deductible are not currently imported, you must manually add them.
